President (Michael Lewis)

Michael is a retired transportation systems engineer and project manager, who has been seen, dressed in black, lurking in the back-stage areas of more theatres and for more years than he cares to remember in a multitude of technical support roles, such as Lighting and Sound design and operation, and Props. Primarily known as a Stage Manager and Master Carpenter, he has provided support to groups in the U.K. and in the U.S. in such cities as Chicago, Orlando, and San Carlos. In the Washington metro area, he has worked for a variety of theatre groups, such as Hexagon, Interact, VLOC, RLT, MPH, and with The British Players on many plays, pantomimes and Music Halls.  He has also been a Trustee of the Players Investment Fund and an Adjudicator for the Ruby Griffiths Award Program for many seasons.

Vice President and Ruby Griffith Award Administrator (Susan Frampton)

Susan Frampton was a founding member of the British Players (then British Embassy Players) in 1964 when posted to the Embassy on a Foreign Service assignment. Apart from a short hiatus Susan has been an enthusiastic member ever since.  A regret has been that she never was on stage with the Players because of involvement with other local companies, Montgomery Light Opera, The Washington Savoyards (then the Montgomery Savoyards of which she was also a founding member) and Victorian Lyric Opera Company, serving on the Boards of the latter two companies.  Her enthusiasm for Gilbert & Sullivan operettas was nurtured in North London in the ‘50s as a chorus member of the Manor House Hospital Operatic Society.  Susan has been an adjudicator with the Ruby Griffiths Award Program since the ‘70s, and has been Administrator of the Program three times, and is currently filling that position.  As a Board member Susan has been Corresponding Secretary and Chairman of the Play Reading Committee.  She looks forward to many more happy and useful years with the Players.

Treasurer (Gary Beaver)

Gary Beaver is the current treasurer and has been a member of The British Players for twenty years.

Publicity & Marketing Manager (Sue Edwards)

Sue has been a member of The British Players for over twenty years performing in many productions, including pantomime, Music Hall, and in the comedy farces – Out of Order, and Key for Two. Sue is also an adjudicator for the Ruby Griffith Awards, and has choreographed the Music Hall’s Bow Belles on several occasions. Sue also performs with the Hexagon group and The Arlington Players. In her spare time, you can usually find her on the golf course with her husband, Malcolm.

Technical Manager (Ed Eggleston)

Ed has been a member of the British Players for about 20 years and has been on the board in various capacities for the last 10.

Recording Secretary (Sara Kane)

Sara has been a member of the British Players for several years and has served the company in several capacities. She is currently Newsletter editor and Recording Secretary.

Corresponding Secretary (Margaret Lane)

Margaret has been a member of The British Players since 1987. She has appeared in a number of plays and Music Halls (including Madam Chairman one year).  She has worn a number of hats on the Board – Recording Secretary, Play Selection and Socials and has been Front of House Manager for many productions.

Chairman Play Reading Committee (Peter Harrold)

Peter first joined the Players way back in 1981, and made his first stage appearance a year later. Since then he has played numerous parts on the BP stage, including many comedies -- Key for Two, Round and Round the Garden, Table Manners, Brides of March -- and has twice appeared as Mr. Chairman in Music Hall. In between his first joining and his most recent appearance in Act of The Imagination, he has spent some 13 years away from Washington serving in the overseas offices of the World Bank in China, Ghana and Sri Lanka, in all of which he also performed regularly. Peter is also a dedicated participant at Poems and Pints. His day-job is as a Director at the World Bank, and for the first time in his career he has a job with only moderate amounts of travel, so he is finally to serve on the BP Committee.

Membership Secretary (Pat Plunkert)

Pat Plunkert has been a member of the Players for over 20 years and this is her third year on the board serving as membership secretary.  Pat is the Players’ wardrobe mistress and over the years has also constructed and designed costumes for many of the Players productions.

Mailing List (Kim Newball)

Kim has been involved in British Players' shows since 1998, and a member of The Players since 2002. She has worked in front of and behind the curtain, and is currently serving on the BP Board for the second year. Kim enjoys helping The Players in whatever capacity needed to produce top-notch shows, and have great fun at the same time!
